Name: James (Jim) R. Hayes
Hometown: Lawrenceburg, Tennessee (about 80 miles South of Nashville)
Current home: A city north of Knoxville, Tennessee
Schools: Lawrence County High School, Tennessee Technological University, West Virginia University
Career: After working several jobs, I settled in insurance and retired with 22 years of service.
Activities: United Methodist Church – Outreach/Missions Chair, choir member, Administrative Council member, enjoy Bible studies, take mission trips to Latvia to visit a church we support, make biscuits for the food pantry hospitality center, member of the Methodist Men’s group.
Lions Club, Lion Tamer – I edit the club newsletter, plan meals, organize special activities, Chair of the Smoker Committee – smoke pork and chicken for our fundraiser.
Local Community Foundation – I helped start the foundation in 2014 and chair the advisory board, organize an annual fundraiser, speak to area groups about our foundation.
Woodworking – I enjoy building furniture for myself and family members and also to give away to others as gifts.
Baking – I make biscuits and other breads for church events and to give to people who are sick or lonely.
Writing – I enjoy writing and submitting devotions for The Upper Room, and I write and deliver sermons as a Lay Speaker in Methodist Churches.
Travel – My wife and I enjoy traveling to new places and have visited every state in the U.S. We love to cruise and have been on 21 cruises. We love meeting new people and look for opportunities to witness our faith to people we encounter.
